The SDN-ready MX204 3D universal edge router is a cloud-grade routing platform that offers the customers ultra-high density and throughput in a space- and power-optimized package. The MX204 addresses the emerging edge and metro Ethernet networking needs of service providers, mobile, web-scale operators, and MSOs by delivering 800 Gbps of throughput in support of high-density 10GbE, 40GbE, and 100GbE interfaces - all in just one rack unit. The MX204 supports a comprehensive suite of routing, switching, security, and service features, including support for automation and telemetry capabilities that serve as the foundation for the future Self-Driving Network. Additionally, the MX204 supports the stringent timing and synchronization requirements of mobile and financial services.
High-density and throughput
800 Gbps of system throughput and support for up to 24 10GbE, 4 40GbE, or 4 100GbE interfaces per chassis.

Power and cooling
Excellent power efficiency, consuming just 0.9 W/Gb - a critical consideration for cloud-grade and collocation networks. The MX204 offers redundant power supplies and fan, and is NEBS-compliant.
